There were no less than 6 generations using the name Simon Hollier in Virginia starting from the mid 17th century. Many were military and indeed one fought in the revolutionary war. Even in the 19th century censuses, there were Holliers in Elizabeth City, Virginia, who must be connected to this long line, although how is not known. The name Simon is very unusual and it seems highly probable that the first Simon was the one baptised at St Martin in the Fields in London in 1644, son of John and Elizabeth Hollier. Where this couple came from is not known, although there is a very speculative link to the Berkshire group.
Carolyn Cosgriff has been researching this line for a long time and has amassed a huge amount of information about the family.
