The signature of Joseph Hollyer from his marriage bond of 1687. While there are many Hollyers and Holliers in Warwickshire at that time, Joseph is the earliest Hollyer whose descent to modern day Hollyers is known. Many US Hollyers are descended from this family.
I have assembled general information about the names Hollyer, Holyer and Hollier on these pages. I have not attempted to republish here everything I have put in my three booklets on the Hollyer, Holyer and Hollier names, but you can download these documents as PDF files from this site. Some highlights from Volume 3 are however featured on this website.
Volume 1 was produced in 1996, Vol 2 in 1998 and Vol 3 in 2002.
To see what's in the three booklets and download them, go to the publications page.
If you are interested in keeping in touch with emerging research on these names, why not read the Hollyer Blog or join the Hollyer Mailing List?
This site can be viewed at any size from 800 x 600 and larger using a recent version of popular browsers. IE7, NS7, Firefox 3 and Opera 9 are recommended, though not essential. Javascript must be enabled. If you use IE6 and a wide screen, you may need to reduce the window width you use.
To navigate around this site, click on the menu on the left, which opens to show full options. 'Hansel Lines' at the top left show you where you are.
A large project like this means that I am handling a lot of family information, including some on living people. The site features a Name Index of people in my collection of pedigrees, plus the England and Wales BMD index archive. I do now have a limited number of family trees on the site, but people considered to be living are marked as 'Private'.
I do not give out information on living people without their consent, but will try to put connected families in touch with one another.
